Laser papers are made to the exact requirements of modern
copiers and laser printers. They are manufactured with less
moisture content than offset paper.
To ensure trouble-free running, adhere
to these guidelines:
Wire side
Print on the wire side first. This
side is often indicated with an arrow (ream end side of wrapper).
Storage
Store the wrapped paper in the press
room, at least 24 hours prior to printing, to allow for temperature
adjustment.
Climate control
The paper must be kept in their climate
protective wrappers until immediately before printing. To
avoid moisture ingestion, wrap paper in ream wrapper or moisture
proof protection immediately after printing or trimming.
Fountain solution
When offset printing, water fount should
be kept to minimum levels, in order to avoid moisture pick-up
by the paper. If possible, use alcohol dampening systems or
dry litho process.
pH-level
The pH-level of the dampening system
should be between 5.2 and 5.7.
Ink type
Use thermo-resistant inks (heat proof)
or fully oxidising inks.
Drying time
Printed sheets should be left for 7
days (for TCF papers, ideally 2 weeks) prior to copying or
laser printing to allow the ink to set.
Trimming
Care should be taken to prevent edge
burr and the papers should only be trimmed with a sharp cutting
knife with an angle of 19-20 degrees.
Paper conversion
When converting folio sheets to A4,
grain direction must be long grain.
The above instructions are a guide only and testing prior
to running the job is always recommended. Please contact Stockman
